This will be the first time in the 44-year history of Ironman that the showpiece event will be hosted somewhere other than Hawaii. When is IRONMAN 70.3 Championship?
The tournament will be held as part of a week-long festival that will feature a variety of lifestyle events for the benefit of the local community as well as visitors. The event will take place on the 28th and 29th of October in 2022.
IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship Course:
IRONMAN 70.3 will take place in St George, which is a tough course that will need top performance to compete at the front of the pack. The participants begin with a 1.9km swim in the Sand Hollow Reservoir, with T1 waiting on the shore. For the most part, the 90.1km bike route follows the south end of Sand Hollow Reservoir before heading north, then west to the more challenging parts.
The final 30km of the ride starts with a 1000 foot hill over 10km before falling back down for the final 20km into T2. The 21.1km run is a two-loop route with two 500-foot rises and descents to test the legs.
